🎥 Case Study: Empowering Voices – Halton Women’s Place Commercial Video
At Sharp Storytelling, we believe in the power of authentic narratives to drive change. We are proud to have created multiple fundraising campaign videos for Halton Women’s Places (HWP) previous galas and our most recent collaboration was no exception. Tasked with producing a commercial video that not only showcased HWP's mission but also resonated deeply with the community, we embarked on a journey to tell a story of hope, resilience, and empowerment.
🎯 Objective
Halton Women's Place, a vital organization providing shelter and support to women and children escaping domestic violence, sought a compelling video to:
Raise awareness and funds for their mission
Highlight the impact of their programs
Engage the community in their mission
🛠️ Approach
Understanding the sensitivity and gravity of the subject matter, our approach was rooted in empathy and authenticity. We focused on real stories, real people, and real emotions. The production process involved:
Pre-production: Collaborating closely with HWP to identify key messages and select individuals whose stories would resonate with the audience.
Production: Capturing an intimate interview on location at the women’s shelter and candid moments that reflected the strength and courage of domestic abuse survivor, Chelsie. As well as casting actors and filming at another one of their women shelter locations to tell their brand story.
Post-production: Editing the footage to create a narrative that was both impactful and respectful, ensuring the message was clear and compelling. Two videos delivered to present at their 2025 Crystal Ball gala.
🎬 Execution
The shoot took place at HWP's facilities, providing an authentic backdrop that added depth to the narrative. We ensured that the environment was comfortable and supportive for all participants, allowing them to share their stories in a safe space. The final video highlighted:

A call to action encouraging community involvement and support
📈 Outcome
The commercial video was launched at their 2025 Crystal Ball gala and online. The response was overwhelmingly positive:
Raised $211,000 at their gala after presenting our Moment of Giving video
Enhanced community awareness and support for HWP's initiatives.
Positive feedback from viewers who felt inspired and moved by the stories shared.
